As a retired cold war submariner I was shocked by the atrocities that my enemy (but brother) submariners were subjected to in the Soviet Navy. Me, I had to take a shower to cool down. Young and old music fans, pop culture fans, history fans, celebrity worshippers, and even fans of photography and design will all love this book. The text is blochy heavy seriffed and is difficult to read. When it does get reported, its only because it was so bad that it couldn't be helped. There are no profound new insights here, but on the whole McBride does a good job with his subject. If you are an experienced professional, there is a lot of methodological advice, a crisp perspective obviously derived from a wealth of experience in the software industry, plus a very comprehensive bibliography.
The authors manage to look at their subjects not only from the perspective of a software vendor, but also describe how this can be applied to corporate IT organizations in all industries. The author's tone
