Editorial : About the Author DETLEF SCHMIDT (Germany) has been a guitar and bass collector ever since 1984. As a collector, he has a worldwide network of fellow collectors of early Fender Precision Basses. As a bass player, he is touring with bands in Europe. He recorded and toured with US Blues artist Louisiana Red and one of Germany s leading Blues Bands, the Matchbox Blues Band and with German, English and Spanish Rockabilly bands. In 2010 he wrote the book Fender Precision Basses 1951-1954 , which soon became a standard in bass literature. His daytime job is being a college instructor of Marketing and Business administration.
