Editorial : An excellent work and a book that every Christian may treasure. -- Raymond B. Knudsen, as printed in The Counselor, December 3, 2000
Were You There? takes readers back to the last days of Jesus and explores the price paid by the disciples and others to follow him. By exploring what it meant to be part of a community in those days, and then to turn one's back on family and town, Saunders gives readers a clearer sense of the scandal of following Jesus. A detailed explanation of the process of crucifixion and an extended meditation for Good Friday help readers experience the last moments of Jesus' life on earth. Study questions at the end of each chapter make this an excellent resource for parish study groups.
I find it amazing that he was able to personally speak with so many key players in the mideast peace process about the code. While there is no alcoholism in my immediate family, there was some in my parents' families, and when I read this book it helped me to understand some things about myself I had always wondered about.. The great thing about this book is that you can play peekaboo with your baby and "sneak peeks" with the characters. On my initial visit, when I was leaning back in the dental chair for an exam I saw a very large picture on the ceiling of Arnold Palmer. The challenge that lies within the self, that makes us dislike ourselves. While Kate DiCamillo has never been one to shelter our children from all of life's realities, it is considerably less light-hearted than Leroy Ninker. Regular pages in the book did not add anything to the book.
Don't bother with this. There is also one double-spread centerfold illustration, and the cover picture, which is not repeated
