Tell time, mark time, waste time, pass the time. There are so many ways to deal with time! It can be divided into big chunks of years or tiny slivers of seconds. Today turns into yesterday and tomorrow becomes today. Time zones, time machines, timepieces the many playful possibilities of time, the ways we think and wonder about it, are explored in a cheerful collection of original verses. In the vivid illustrations, executed in Cathryn Falwell's signature cut-paper collage, a lively sprite leads the way through the funny and thought-provoking images. A perfect book for children who are just beginning to grasp the implications of time, "It's About Time!" will make reading time a pleasure.
Editorial : From School Library Journal Kindergarten-Grade 4-This inviting collection of poems encourages children to think imaginatively about time. The overall tone is light and humorous, and the book even includes a limerick. Imaginative graphics distinguish some poems, including "Now Is a Narrow Place," with its text in the shape of an hourglass. The selections are particularly suited to being read aloud. Brightly colored illustrations feature a blue-haired elf and lively puppy. These charming characters unify the collection, but are perhaps a bit too cute. This book will be a valuable resource for teachers who want to make learning to tell time fun, and will give children something to ponder.Robin L. As noted critic Helen Vendler says of these last Dickinson fragments “…what might seem only negligible scraps of waste paper brings us closer to the restlessness of the constantly thinking poet who, in her later years, repeatedly seized her pencil and a fragment of an envelope to write about the lowliest and the most exalted states of being.” Dickinson had stopped writing poems for publication at this point or even for
