Well written and kept my interest. Shanghai Messenger is a book of poetry by Andrea Cheng and pictures by Ed Young describing an eleven-year-old girl's trip to visit her extended family in Shanghai, China. The influence of Slattery's musical background is evident; music and happy gatherings of people are spread throughout the novel. But then again, MTV has gotten us used to a little bit of chaos, anyway.
Happy Birthday, MTV!. I've purchased several, and am very thankful they are all soft-covered so when we ship them to Nevada, where she lives with her mother, and younger siblings, it will not cost as much. Thoughtfully captioned by an obviously respectful author with hundreds of never before photos of early 20th century Queens. I can't deny that part of the appeal of the book for me is that it focusses on what might be described as the nicer, picture-postcard images of Britain (country pubs, wandering the heaths, watching flycatcher sally forth in large floral Cotswold gardens et
