Editorial : This is a truly funny little book. On just about every page there is something that will make the reader laugh out loud This little book is highly recommended as an individual purchase for opera lovers, and maybe for those who do not like opera all that much. (Robert Wick American Reference Books Annual, Volume 35)

Amusing and memorable. (Linda Piwowarczyk Chicago Sun Newspapers 2003-12-11)

Filled with pithy quotes and stories. (Giftware News)

A collection of often outrageous quotes and critiques uttered by the opera elite, who gleefully skewer each other and the profession. (Gary Stevens Vermont Chronicle 2003-12-03)

What they said when they were not singing. Here are hundreds of quotes that highlight the wit, wisdom and lunacy of the opera world. Luminaries Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Caruso, Ruffo, Chaliapin, Melba, Sills, Callas, Toscanini, Beecham and other more recent personalities have had lots to say about opera, themselves and each other. There are venomous quotes from critics and emotional outbursts by performers and listeners. One hapless society matron tried complimenting soprano Eileen Farrell at a reception in her honor with "My dear, you reminded me so much of Kate Smith." The comparison so rattled the diva Farrell that she blurted out, "Well, kiss my ass!" and stormed out. Austrian conductor Franz Schalk is noted for the most emblematic words about opera life: "Every theatre is an insane asylum, but an opera theatre is the ward for the incurables." This book will be a delight for aficionados of opera.

It retailed for $45 full price and should be significantly cheaper on Amazon that the hardback being offered.. I dislike chemistry. Which is a disservice to Captain Zateyev and his crew, whose true, heroic, and tragic story, for so many, will remain unheard.. In 1970 I flew the Braniff-Pan Am interchange flight from Dallas to Chicago continuing on to Brussels, Belgium. The only thing bothered me was the way it was written. The coverage seems bland and boring--no snap to it. Much to my disappointment, the pages in this textbook are SO incredibly thin, that even using a very light highlighter, the color bleeds through to the opposite page. I applaud the Author, Barbara Lee, for her ability to keep the reader interested.. The authors have done an excellent job in collecting all these results in
a single volume, offering an invaluable tool to CAD/CAM professionals who do not have the time to study
and analyze themselves all this literature.
